3 Great Family Activities For This Weekend
Make the most of your weekend with these hand-picked activities for the whole family. Plus, the lost art of imaginative play.
Family Day is almost here! At least in our neck of the woods. We’ll bet, though, that some of you are still wondering what the heck to do with your kids to keep them busy and happy all weekend (well, most of the weekend).
With that, here’s our curated selection of some of the best Backyard Camp activities to turn frowns upside down and bond together, without a single video game in sight.
Also: Deborah Brooks, co-founder of everyone’s favourite kids’ play couch, My Puffin, shares advice for parents on how to decrease your child’s stress through active, creative play.
Let’s get to it…
1. Family Winter Hike
You probably don’t have to go all that far from your home to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of a crisp winter hike - even your local park will do. Bring your camera, a football to toss around or go on a scavenger hunt, you’ll all be bonding before you know it (minus car-ride there and back). >>Get out there!
2. Argh! Treasure Hunt
You can play this one at your house or local green space, matey.
Hide prizes throughout the house. For each prize, give your child a clue in the form of a riddle (or hint) to figure out and find where the next prize is… >>How to play
3. Rocky Road Cookie Pizza!
Now this is an activity the whole family can get behind (dietary restrictions aside): A giant cookie covered in chocolate, marshmallows, caramel sauce. Perfect for games night, or the big game on TV. >>Get the recipe
